Volunteer for SGC!

The Society for Game Cinematics (SGC) is a prestigious organization supporting the work and contributions of professionals working in game cinematics. As a non-profit, SGC’s work is made possible by the continuous teamwork and collaboration of volunteer leaders and committees. All committee volunteers have special access and opportunities into driving forward initiatives and ideas to create the organization that they wish to see and working with like-minded peers to make it happen!

This is only made possible by sustained efforts and work to keep SGC thriving and growing. We play hard, but we work hard too! In addition to being ambassadors representing SGC, all volunteers must meet expectations as outlined below. SGC volunteers take responsibility for executing on the mission and vision of their respective committees and are accountable for meeting goals, deadlines, and upholding SGC’s mission.

To Apply:

Committee Volunteers must be either "Professional" or "Emerging" level active members in good standing. Prospective volunteers should send their resumes to admin@societyforgamecinematics.org.

If there is an open need for more committee members, interviews are scheduled with the appropriate Committee Lead. The email should note which committee they are interested in joining:

  • Awards

  • Community

  • Events

  • Membership

  • Sponsorship

Expectations & Meetings:

All Volunteers must agree to:

  • 1 Year of service on the committee

  • Attend bi-weekly committee meetings or as-set by the Committee Lead

  • Provide email at which to receive regular SGC communications

  • Contribute meaningfully to the work of the committee: receiving & delivering on regular assignments, tangible results that hit deadlines and meet the goals of the committee, regular communications and updates to Committee Lead and fellow Committee Members

Meeting Attendance: All committees meet via video call on a recurring basis, at least bi-weekly (every two weeks). This schedule may be increased or decreased accordingly by the Committee Lead as initiatives or events ramp up or down. If a committee member is unable to attend a meeting, they will let their Committee Lead know ahead of time. After 2 missed meetings with no communication, it is assumed that the volunteer will be unable to be a part of the committee. They will receive an email notice and be removed from SGC channels and email lists.

NOTE: We all know and understand that “life” happens. Please keep an open dialogue with your Committee Lead and come up with a plan if you need to be away for an extended period of time.
