Founding

The Society for Game Cinematics (SGC) was launched in July 2022 by the original group of founders coming together from many different backgrounds, disciplines, and studios:

DORI ARAZI - BRIAN HORN - EMILY HSU - MARIANNE HAYDEN

MATTHEW WARD - LINA HALPER - GREG MITCHELL - MARTY STOLTZ

SGC was formed to create a dedicated space for discussion and recognition of the work of game cinematics. This group has since grown to be a community bringing together thousands of cinematics professionals through in-person and virtual initiatives worldwide.

It is our mission to:

  • Connect professionals in the cinematic field who have demonstrated a high standard of creative ability in order to exchange ideas, discuss techniques, and foster a sense of community

  • Define the essence of cinematics and encourage the advancement of visual storytelling in games

  • Support and encourage technological advancements in the field

  • Attract new talent to the industry through education, mentorship, and promotion of cinematics as a singular artform

  • Recognize the achievement of excellence in the art and industry of game cinematics and virtual experiences

  • Honor and preserve the history and development of game cinematics

  • Advocate for an increase in diversity and promote the benefits of inclusive practices across the industry

The Society for Game Cinematics is not organized for the purposes of making a profit nor for bargaining for labor benefits.
